Today, I was honored to be featured on the Segullah blog in an interview about the Mormon Women Project. Segullah is an LDS women's literary magazine that I have written for and admired for many years. In fact, I had lunch with the founder of Segullah last week and was delighted to have found a soul mate in the cause of broadening the identity of Mormon women. Thank you Segullah for allowing me to share my ideas on your esteemed site!
I feel grateful for the support and good advice I've received over the past several weeks since launching the Mormon Women Project. In particular, Michelle Linford, the founder of www.mormonwoman.org, has been remarkably supportive. This means a lot to me since I've complicated her life greatly by introducing a complementary project with such a similar name! Michelle's project is wholly devoted to an externally-focused missionary effort -- informing people outside the Church of our doctrine and culture and role as women in the organization -- while mine is intended for an LDS audience. She is truly a pioneering and admirable mentor for me.
